During disasters, every second is critical. The proposed Multi-Hazard Audio Warning System(MHAWS) is designed to deliver warning messages of multi-hazards in a timely and effective manner directly from monitoring stations or a central data center to vulnerable communities in disaster-prone areas.

The siren can be activated through multiple channels, including SMS from pre-registered mobile numbers, an online platform, a wireless remote controller, and a mobile application. In addition, it can be automatically triggered by threshold-based monitoring systems such as flood level, rainfall, or landslide sensors via GSM or wireless communication networks. For example, when water levels exceed predefined warning or danger thresholds, the monitoring station will automatically activate the siren to alert downstream communities.

A key advantage of the system is its flexibility and resilience. The wireless communication network enables reliable operation even in remote areas with limited or no mobile network coverage, while also reducing recurring data communication costs.

The siren system supports the storage and broadcast of multiple pre-recorded voice warning messages. Furthermore, it has the capability to transmit live audio alerts. Authorized personnel can call the SIM card installed in the siren unit and broadcast real-time warnings directly to the community. This feature allows emergency messages to be delivered in local languages and appropriate tones, improving comprehension, trust, and response time compared to conventional siren-only alerts.
