Project Description: Surkhet Water Supply Project is a project that plan to lift water from Bheri river and supply it to Birendranagar, the provincial headquarters of Karnali. It is funded by the federal, provincial and local governments. The project is estimated to supply drinking water to Birendranagar for at least 30 years. The intake will be constructed 574 metres upstream from the confluence of the Bheri River and Jhupra stream in Birendranagar. Water from the Bheri River will be lifted to a treatment plant around 400 metres above and supplied to the main reservoir tank in Amritdanda, which is around seven kilometers from the treatment plant.

Scope of Services:

1. The consultant shall visit the site to select an appropriate intake location considering topographical, hydrological, geological and          geomorphological condition of the proposed location;
2. River Cross Section Survey shall be carried out at 5 sections downstream and 3 sections upstream at 50 m interval and 1 section at      proposed intake location. The CS survey shall cover existing water level, flood plain and HFL+5 m at minimum;
3. Bathymetric survey shall be carried out to determine the bed level of each cross section. The data shall be the basis for conducting      river modelling software-HECRAS.;
4. Carryout hydrological study of Bheri River to estimate high flood and low flows for different return periods;
5. Carry out different flood frequency analysis such as Gumbel, LPT III, LN etc to estimate the design floods and extreme low flow            values at the proposed intake location;
6. Perform river modelling software such as HECRAS to calculate the extreme high flow level and low flow level in the proposed site.       For the validation of the model, one discharge measurement shall be carried out from the nearest location using current meter           along with finalizing the extreme high flow and low flow level in Bheri River from hydraulic model study;
7. Detailed design including reinforcement details where applicable will cover each component of major structures e.g. Intake,                  Approach Canal, Pump Chamber, Control Gates, Trash racks and so on;
8. Prepare Engineers estimate of quantity based on the drawings prepared from detailed engineering design. The quantity estimate         will logically present all the items that needs to be included in Bill of Quantities (BoQ); and
9. Prepare and Submit the report.
