Project Description: Rupa Lake or Rupa Tal is a freshwater lake in Nepal located in the Rupa Municipal of Kaski District. It is the third biggest lake in Pokhara valley of Nepal and at an altitude of 600 m (1,969 ft) covering area about 1.35 km2 (0.5 sq m) with an average water depth 3 m and maximum depth 6 m. The lake is elongated north to south and is fed by perennial streams. Its watershed area is 30 km², where The main inflow of water is from Talbesi stream, whereas Dhovan khola is the feeder stream with its outlet Tal khola at Sistani ghat. An earthen embankment dam of length 600m and highest depth 6 m with 5 m top width and u/s and d/s side slope of 1:3 and 1 :2.5 has been proposed to raise the water depth of Rupa Lake. A spillway of 40m span including 2m bottom outlet/ under sluice discharges 94 m3/s  flood water safely to 14 m stilling basin located at downstream of the spillway.

Scope of Services:

1.  Review all previous study reports including approved DPR;

2.  Review previous investigation reports conducted by the project in different phase of study;

3.  Collect necessary study related documents as required for the review study;

4.  Compare with previously set assumption to the recent finding obtain from different study and update the  report accordingly;

5.  Review design, drawing and estimate of embankment dam, spillway, bridge and other associated structure;

6.  Review of previous Geotechnical  Investigation and test parameter to check suitability for the construction of embankment dam;

7.  Design review of previous design parameters of embankment dam;

8.  Design review of dam foundation and suggest appropriate technique for the foundation improvement and seepage control (Preloading method of foundation improvement was adopted);

9.  Design review of spillway and its foundation and suggest for optimized structure;

10.  Prepare material specification for dam body material and filter material;

11.  Report preparation.
