Project Description: Kawasoti is a municipality in Nawalpur District, Gandaki Pradesh, Nepal. It is 31 km west of Bharatpur and 85 km east of Butwal, approximately on the middle of Mahendra Highway. The Narayani River flows south of it, and the Mahabharat Range is north of it. Kawasoti Municipality has a huge potential of for the river bed materials like sand, gravel, boulder. Due to the high demand rate for infrastructure construction in Kawasoti the proponent is planning to mobilize the resources on sustainable and environmentally sound manner. There are three rivers in Kawasoti from where the sand, stone, aggregate and gravel are being extracted for different purpose.
Scope of Services:
1. Collection and Review of Project Baseline data;
2. Preparation of Terms of Reference for IEE study;
3. Field investigation, interaction with local people and other stakeholders and collection of baseline data;
a) Studied about Physical Environment (land use pattern, topography, geomorphology, soil erosion/landslides and slope stability);
b) Studied about Biological Environment (Vegetation, wildlife, aquatic species, endangered rare and threatened plants and wildlife species);
c) Studied about Socioeconomic and Cultural Environment (Social Infrastructures such as: schools, health post, drinking water and sanitation status, Cultures and Religions).
4. Interpretation of data and its analysis; and
5. Preparation and approval of IEE report for extraction of river bed materials.
