Assignment: Staff Gauge Installation and Discharge Measurement of Bheri 4 Storage Hydropower Project 

Location: Surkhet, Salyan, Jajarkot and Rukum District, Nepal

Client: Bheri Energy Company Pvt. Ltd. 

Duration:  November 2017 to January 2018

Project Description: Bheri 4 Storage Hydroelectric Project is of license capacity 300 MW located in Surkhet, Salyan, Jajarkot and Rukum districts of Western Nepal. The project has design discharge of 275 m3/s sourced from the Catchment of Bheri River and Chheda River.

Scope of Services:

1. Supply, Delivery and Installation of 6.0 m manual staff gauge in Bheri River at dam location;
2. Provide training to the local staff (gauge reader) for taking gauge reading as per DoED guidelines.
3. Conducting discharge measurement using current meter by sounding reel method from the suspension bridge for the month of December 2017 and January 2018;
4. Development of Rating Curve using measured discharge and corresponding gauge height.
5. Equipment used:
    a) Current Meter;
    b) 75/35-pound fish weight;
    c) 45m long sounding reel; and
    d) Four-wheel pulley & crane arrangement;
    e) Gauge plates, wooden posts, rock driller and other gauge installation accessories.
