Project Description: Bheri Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project (BBDMP) is located in Bheri Ganga Municipality, Surkhet District, Karnali Province of Nepal. The project is an inter-basin water transfer scheme, which will provide 40 m3/s of irrigation water year-round by routing the Bheri River water into the Babai River after completion of Headworks structure at Bheri River. However, until completion of headworks structure, BBDMP intends to divert 7.0 m3/s discharge during dry season by pumping Bheri water into inlet of headrace tunnel. The diverted discharge will be supplied through existing headrace tunnel and release to Karkare kholsi which ultimately adds discharge to Babai River. The additional discharge in Babai River will be used for irrigation of 3360 Ha land in Babai Command Area using existing Babai irrigation plan. 

Scope of Services:

A. Topographical Survey, Engineering Design and Cost Estimation of Diversion Road at Headworks and Access Road to Surge Tank of length about 2 Km with carriageway width of 7.0 m with Gravel Surface.
B. Design and Cost Estimate of cross drainage structures; 6 m Span Slab Culvert (1 Nos), 600 mm dia. pipe culvert (1 Nos), Cause way 15.0 length x 7.0 m width at different chainage (2 Nos).
C. Hydrological study of Chiple Kholsi at Headworks using various empirical methods (Modified Dicken’s Method, Tahal-2002) and rational method.
D. Pump design for diversion of 7.0 m3/s discharge into the Headrace tunnel; centrifugal pump (10 Nos), unit discharge 700 lps, lifting head 15 m, Unit Motor Power 110 kW, operating voltage 440 kV.
E. Design of RCC intake, water delivery system (1.5 m dia MS pipe- 2 Nos) and outlet structures to divert 7.0 m3/s discharge.
F. Design and cost estimate of power supply system; 3 Phase, 0.4/33 kVA, 1500 kVA transformer, design of Protection system on Primary (33 kV) side of transformer and support structure of transformer installation (13 m long, telescope type, galvanized, steel H–pole).
G. Cross Section Survey (100 sections, 1.0 km length) and HecRAS modelling of Karkare Kholsi to assess the impact of additional 7.0 m3/s discharge into the system.
H. Carryout Project cost estimation, agricultural benefit and cost benefit analysis of the proposed diversion project
I. Discharge measurement of Bheri River at headworks of BBDMP from existing suspension bridge using current meter and sounding reel, measured discharge (116.15 m3/s).
J. Bathymetric Survey of Bheri River at Headworks using DGPS integrated Echosounder, Total 17 cross sections for length of 425 m @ 25 m interval.
