Project Description: Betan Karnali Hydroelectric Project is a Peaking RoR project of installed capacity of 442 MW. The project is located in the border of Achham and Surkhet district. Its proposed headwork is located around 10 km from Lyati Bindraseni. The project has approximate catchment area of 22,555 km2 and uses design discharge of 536 m3/s in dry season and 580 m3/s in wet season. It generates total annual energy of 2,319.42 GWh.
Scope of Services:
1. Carrying out suspended sediment sampling using depth integrated sediment sampler in following frequency;
• May to September: two sets daily;
• October and November: one set daily;
• December to February: one set weekly; and
• March and April: one set daily
2. Set up and operation of sediment laboratory at project site;
3. Carrying out laboratory test analysis in following frequency:
• Concentration Analysis: 1608 samples;
• Mineral Content Analysis: 49 samples; and
• PSD analysis: 49 samples using laser diffraction method
4. Submission of monthly report including lab test results; and
5. Development of Sediment Rating Curve.
6. Equipment used to take samples using depth integration method:
a) USGS Depth Integrated Sampler with four-wheel crane system;
b) Filtration System and weighing accessories;
c) Trinocular Stereo Zoom Microscope; and
d) Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer
